A Change Me Prayer for Anxiety Relief
by Fabienne Wydler
Divine Beloved,
Change me into one who trusts the unfolding.
Change this anxious energy
into steady presence.
Change my need to control
into a willingness to allow.
Let me breathe deeply,
even when nothing feels certain.
Change the stories of fear
into a quiet knowing that I am safe.
Change the spinning thoughts
into still waters.
Make me someone who can rest,
even when the world moves fast.
Let calmness become my companion,
not something I have to chase.
Use this moment—this anxiety,
this restlessness,
to bring me closer to You—
closer to peace,
closer to love,
closer to the wholeness I already am.
Amen.
There are days when the nervous system feels like a small animal caught in a storm—ears alert, breath shallow, heart quick. Sometimes it’s for a reason we can name. Sometimes it’s just the hum of the world vibrating too loudly under the skin.
Anxiety has many faces. For some, it arrives as racing thoughts. For others, a deep sense of unease in the body. And while we might not always be able to stop the waves from coming, we can choose how we meet them. Over time, I’ve learned that a supportive rhythm of care—woven from small, steady acts—can make a profound difference.
For me and many I work with, anxiety care is never just one thing. It’s a layering. A warm bath in the evening, a weighted blanket, magnesium-rich foods, fewer tabs open on the browser and in the brain. It’s grounding herbs, sleep hygiene, and making space to feel rather than suppress. It’s time spent with a beloved animal, whose calm nervous system can co-regulate with ours without words.
And it’s also tea. Not as a cure, but as ritual. Something warm to hold when everything feels cold or fast. Something that meets the body gently, over time.
This is the space where Calm in a Cup was born.
Passionflower’s Loving Invitation
Calm in a Cup is a simple, earthy tea blend crafted with some of the most trusted herbal allies for supporting the nervous system during anxious or overactive times. These plants have a long history in traditional herbal medicine, and when taken consistently over time, they can support a return to inner steadiness.
What’s inside:
Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) Soothes circular thinking and calms the mind before sleep. Helpful when thoughts spin and tension lingers in the chest.
St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) Traditionally used to support low mood and seasonal blues, St. John’s Wort can bring gentle light to cloudy inner skies. It also has an affinity for the nervous system as a whole.
Valerian Root (Valeriana officinalis) A deeply grounding root that helps settle agitation in both body and mind. While its scent is distinctive, its effect can be profoundly relaxing.
Lemon Balm Leaves (Melissa officinalis) Bright and calming, lemon balm is a classic for easing anxious digestion, lightening the spirit, and soothing frazzled nerves.
The Recipe:
You can easily blend this tea at home. This is a gentle, nourishing formula that’s safe for most people—but as always, please check for individual sensitivities and contraindications (especially with medications).
Ingredients:
30 g Passionflower
30 g St. John’s Wort
30 g Valerian Root
10 g Lemon Balm Leaves
To prepare:
Mix all herbs together in a bowl. Store in an airtight glass jar away from direct sunlight.
Use 1–2 tablespoons per cup of boiling water.
Place herbs in your favorite cup or glass and pour water over them.
Cover the cup with a lid or saucer to trap the steam and preserve essential oils.
Let steep for 10 minutes.
Strain and return any liquid from the lid back into the cup.
Sweeten, if desired.
Suggested use:
Drink 3–4 cups daily for three weeks to gently support your system in times of stress or anxiety.

💖 Whether you brew this tea for yourself or gift it to someone in need of a little calm, may it be a reminder that nervous system care doesn’t have to be loud or complicated. Sometimes, a warm cup, a quiet moment, and a few good plants are more than enough. 💖
Calm in a Bowl: Herbal Calm for Our Animal Companions
A gentle tea blend to help support relaxation in dogs, cats (with adjustments), guinea pigs and bunnies.
Many of our beloved animals carry the weight of fear, nervousness, or trauma — often rooted in past experiences such as accidents, neglect, or abuse. Just like us, they benefit from safe rituals, consistency, and gentle support from nature.
This calming herbal blend may help ease tension and support rest in these animal friends, with specific adjustments based on their needs.
The Recipe:
Ingredients
40 g Valerian Root (omit for cats)
30 g Hops (Hop cones)
30 g Lemon Balm Leaves
20 g St. John's Wort (optional, especially for cats)
Optional additions: For nursing young animals you may add a small amount of rosehip (Rosa canina) to support their nervous and immune systems.
Preparation
Use 1 teaspoon of the dried herb mixture per cup (approx. 250 ml) of freshly boiled water.
Pour the hot water over the herbs, cover, and let steep for 7–10 minutes.
Strain the tea and let it cool to a safe, lukewarm temperature.
It may be sweetened lightly with a small amount of honey (only for dogs and animals safe to ingest honey). Never give honey to young animals or cats.
This tea can be offered on a spoon, added to a small amount of food, or used to gently moisten treats.
Important note
Always consult with your veterinarian before offering any herbal preparation to your animal, especially if they are pregnant, nursing, very young, elderly, or on medication.
This tea does not replace veterinary care. If your animal is showing signs of trauma, stress, or illness, please seek the advice of a qualified professional.
Trauma & Anxiety Support
Many dogs and cats experience fears and phobias due to traumatic events, such as accidents or mistreatment. In such cases, it’s highly recommended to seek guidance from a classically trained veterinary homeopath or trauma-informed animal care specialist.
To gently support relaxation at home, you may also try:
Hops Pillow – Fill a small linen sachet with hop cones and place it near your animal’s sleeping area. The natural aroma can have a soothing effect on the nervous system.
Spelt Pillow – A warmed spelt cushion placed near their bed may help relieve physical tension and promote restful sleep.
